Does anyone have any experience making soy candles? I want to make some as gifts for Christmas but don't really know where to start. Some people say to use Cargill wax others don't like it, some like scented oils from one place others don't.......You get my drift seems everyone has a different opinion and since I don't have that long to experiment before I need to have them made thought I'd turn here for help and advice on who to purchase materials from and how to get started. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Well, I see alot have checked out my post but only one response. ICGardner, thanks for the post. I am working out the kinks and have started making soy candles, right now, just basically making them for myself and family. It's really fun but it does take some trial and error. You have to "test" each new scent, color, size and type of wax with the wicks to come up with the right match so that takes some time (and money) but it's neat to see the finished product. Right now I'm trying to decide on the style of jars and sizes I want to use, I'm finding that since they burn so much longer than a parafin candle that I get bored with them if they are too long lasting so I'm thinking the smaller jars are the best bet since I can keep switching them out. I'm going to check out a few local stores to see if they have an interest in them and check out the "tax" laws and such to see if I even want to consider selling them or just keep doing them for the pure enjoyment of it. I mean you need to have something to do with the extra time since our hosta are "sleeping".
