The MOST wonderful time of the year

Post by Linda P »

is right now, when new lily blossoms open daily. The asiatics are just finishing up, the trumpets and orienpets are blooming, and the earliest of the orientals are coming on. I sat on the deck last night and was nearly carried away by the fragrance of the trumpets, which are around the other side of the house and out in the yard by the road. I can't sit on the front porch in the evenings when the trumpets by the step are in bloom. It's a little too much of a good thing!
I have lots of lily pics to post, but I'll start with three and add more later.

Thank you! Here are some more. I have more 'unknowns' than ones whose names I know. I never kept track of them when I planted them, and then I'm in the habit of moving them around the garden to boot.

Here's a close-up of the marbled one. Every flower is different on this one. I have no idea where I got it or what it's name might be.

This is a long-bloomer, tremendous flower stalks, about 5 feet tall. I have to tie it up so it doesn't flop into the path.

That first unknown one I think is called Luxor, my most favorite lily! I don't have it anymore, but wish I did.

Thanks, Linda. You could be right, I remember buying Luxor.
MaryAnn, that Stargazers are not blooming yet. They're not quite as vigorous this year; I think I forgot to fertilize them last year. They're also getting more and more shade. I may have to move them soon.
