ID please?

Can anyone tell me what these are called. My SIL says they are a lily, but they have bloomed here already and the blossoms are now spent. Seems way to early for a lily in my area. :hmm:

Thanks for looking! :)

Hi Joan,

Those are fritillaria imperialis. I tried them years ago but they would come up really early and would always get killed back by a late frost so I just gave up on them. But the bulbs always tried again and again... I've been told they are supposed to repel moles :hmm:

Looking nice there :)

Hey...thanks ,Chris , for the quick ID! I didn't get to see them in bloom, but they sure do look pretty. They've been growing out at the old farmhouse for years and years , apparently. I'll pass on that info to my SIL and BIL. :D
