Hi Jane, it looks like Queen of the Prairie to me (filipendula rubra). :P

God help you if that is what it is! Wonderful plant, but it will take over. I moved mine down to the stream bed, where it could duke it out with the grasses, weeds and overenthusiastic DH with the bush hog. After five years, it is still there.

It definately looks like a filipendula. I love mine! It has never spread - I wish it would.

I seem to remember it was to get about 24" wide and 3-6 tall or something like that which is why I planted where I did on the property line.

Gosh I hope it doesn't spread! :o Maybe there are different types, some do, some don't? I was hoping maybe Chris would remember, b/c I am fairly certain thats where I got it last year, but one never knows......... It's only the hosta I really keep good track of :(

I think it had rose or pink plums type of flowers on it last year, but I can't even remember that!

To 6', rose flowers...yep, that's it!

To get best results, feed and water generously. Unfortunately that also will guarantee that it will spread. With neglect, it will remain manageable for up to three years.

Oh shoot!

I just bought a couple of these for the back of a smallish perennial border. I definitely do NOT need this taking over the bed.... sigh.

Thanks for the info, I guess I am moving them this weekend....

Hmmmmmmmm.... It hasn't really grown too much since last year. I think it was basically the same # of stalks, just not as large leaves on it. Can't really remember, I'll have to search my files. Thanks again, I'll keep my eye on him!
