Yes it is a Trillium seed pod. With hopefully a generous supply of seed.

What type of Trillium is it? It has gorgeous pods, can't wait to see the blossoms themselves. Be sure to post a pic!

Seed pod is Trillium kurabayashii. Plants were in full bloom in early March. My understanding is this variety will clump fairly quickly from offsets (which bloom much earlier than seed).

I have two plants with large pods and one with a small pod. The small one fell away yesterday when I was testing them for readiness. Large ones are still firmly attached but that can change within hours.

I'm collecting the seed from several varieties to give the seedlings a better chance of survival (I hope). I sow the seed in deep pots and cover with chicken grit and then screen the pot to keep out critters. Then I place in a shady area where mother nature can do the rest.

Oh IC! I thought it was a flower bud, not a pod, duh! Now I understand. Very pretty all around
