Ahhhh yes! Won't it be nice when it finally does come? I've still got a couple months here before it arrives here in my z4. Your pictures are wonderful. I love the flowers in # 2, they look somewhat like columbine, but not sure. The leaves seem like they could be epimedium... and the shooting stars! They are another favorite of mine, which unfortunately, I haven't had luck with. After 3 tries I have given up, for now anyway... Thanks for that breath of spring on this frosty freezing cold (8 degrees!!!) morning.

More spring: I took these pics yesterday. Snowdrops normally bloom here at the end of March the earliest.

insam and viktoria do you ever start seed from any of these? I just ordered a bunch and am wondering if it is hard to get them going.
I ordered
Anemone - biarmiense
Anemone - canadensis (Moist Packed)
ANEMONE - multifida (Pink Variety)
Anemone - rivularis (Moist Packed)
ANEMONOPSIS - macrophylla (Moist Packed)
ASTILBOIDES - tabularis
Campanula - cervicaria
Campanula - divaricata
Gentiana - acaulis
Gentiana - makinoi (Early Flowering Form)
Thalictrum - species mix
They will send me instructions, but was wondering from someone who grows them how difficult they are.

P.S. Your pictures are beautiful and inspiring.

I would sow the moist-packed varieties immediately, put the seed flats in a shady and protected location and cover them with snow. (You may need to use something like hardware cloth to protect them from critters.) Once show is gone, bring them into a brighter location and wait for germination.

I have not grown gentians from seed. Perennials in general will benefit from a cold-treatment. Wait for the purveyor's instructions, though.

Joseph, don't let Andi see those Epimediums. She'll hunt them down! Gorgeous pictures!

Beautiful pics! I actually had a couple of crocus blooming the other day. Before I had though to take any pics, BAM! It got colder than blazes again.

Well, I've only got seven or eight kinds so she probably already has them all! If Andi did kidnap them, the plants would thank her for getting them out of my hot and dry garden. :)

One more. My garden is a 'natural' garden. That's the nice way of saying it's out of control. I'm sure it's even more "natural" now than ever. :???: But hopefully stuff is still alive.

TOO LATE!!! I was just going to post to ask which epis the photos were of when I saw Doris' post. I've been in severe-epimedium-addiction for a couple of years now :) I have several more ordered that I can't wait to see this spring :)

So... can you tell me the names of the ones in your photos :)

Andi

p.s. Don't worry about the epis for now, first I'm planning a raid of Kellie's hellebores that are being babysat at Doris' house LOL! :)

Andi, the first is 'Tama no genpei' and the second is 'Yubae'... I think  I have others that are similar to both but that's what they look like. These photos were taken a couple of years ago and I didn't label the photo. Maybe you can check the Gardenvision catalog and see if I've got alzheimer's or not.

Can you believe that here in Korea epimediums are like $2? Maybe I should set up a distribution center before I move back. And you can set one up for Kellie's helles.

Yep, I was just getting to the end to ask the name of your epimediums too. Wow, that pink is just wonderful! Is that the 'Tama no genpei' ?? (What ever that means??)

Thanks for sharing!!

So Karma...
What is that in your 1st picture. Very Intriguing! Looks like it could be a tree or shrub.

Thanks for all the pictures everyone - It will be a while before we get anything like that here  .
