I have several new arisaemas this year, and some of my seedlings are finally starting to bloom (3-4 years from seed)

These plants are just too fun, and always a good conversation piece :)

First time here, away from the hosta forum, and I have a question. I have but one variety of jack and it is huge. This year it has reached height of 34" . Can anyone speculate on the variety and can anyone suggest a few varieties that will do well in my zone 5 (canadian ) garden.I think that would be 5b or 6 US.
thanks

Keith - If you could let me know how many leaflets it has, that would really help to narrow down what variety it might be. Some have three huge leaves, some look like an umbrella with up to 20 narrow leaflets arranged in a circle. And what color is the flower? Any chance you could post a photo?

For a great reference site, you can try looking it up at http://www.aroid.org/genera/arisaema/herold/

Must be arisaema triphyllum (3-leaved), our common Jack-in-the-pulpit. There are two races that co-exist: green-"flowered" and brown-"flowered."

Here's a link at a great wildflower site showing both: http://www.ct-botanical-society.org/gal ... atrip.html

With the description, I'm voting for Arisaema triphyllum too, which is native to the east coast of the U.S. From the website Tigger gave and the one I posted a link to, hopefully you'll be able to compare yours to those photos and ID it.
