Is E. alpinum "Shrimp Girl"
Now, though I think it is really cute.... unless someone is of Lilliputian stature, how the heck do you even see the blooms when it is growing outside? Do I need to plan in a container and place at eye level or slightly above?

Renaldo - be warned, they do hot and dry really well! Around here we recommend them to people who want to plant under fir and cedar trees where nothing else will grow because of the root competition and dryness.
There are so many types of epis, the one you have is a smaller blooming one. If you want something with showier, larger and taller blooms, look for one of the grandiflorums or youngianums, they hold their flowers up much higher. There is also a HUGE variety of colors to choose from. (Can you feel the addiction growing yet?)
I have a bunch of them posted on my website if you want to get ideas. www.hostacrazy.com

Reldon, send Darrell Probst an email with your address and he will send you a catalogue that will knock your socks off.
Dry shade-that is it. The ones I have here are only the common ones, but what a bang for the buck. I have one that is about 18" tall and about 2-3 feet wide. Beautiful leaves and in the early spring it just fills in overnight.
