Trying for red flowers

Last season I got a "red" flowered hosta in - Dostoyevsky. It's more magenta or maybe dark red or maroon - hard to tell when you are red/green color blind.

It flowered and I have been trying to use its pollen on some of my plants - I have never had success before. I didn't think it would work this time either because it's been so hot. But in my backyard under the trees there must be a cooler environment because I'm seeing pods forming.

clausa normalis has a couple,
Torch Light has a couple,
Koriyama has a bunch - I had 3 scapes to work with,
The Perfect Storm has a couple,
One Man's Treasure has a couple,

Dragon Warrior has none,
Curly Fries has none - lots of flowers on multiple scapes but no pods.

Unnamed plant pods look like little cucumbers.

I've been growing some 'red flower' seedlings and so far have only gotten purple or slightly reddish flowers, although the flower markings have been very red flower like. I hope you have great success.
