My name is Alexa and I am a SAHM with 2 wonderful boys and my best friend who is also my DH. We live in Bucks County PA which is just north of Philly.

I love to cook and entertain. I used to show horses (hunters/jumpers) and do obedience trials with my dogs (Dobermans). I love football, especially the Patriots. I also shoot pool (Ladies 8 Ball National Finalist), which is how I met my DH. I also love to cook and entertain and provide personal chef services on occasion.

I am fairly new to gardening (first started in '02) and have some modest flower beds around the house. My favorite spot currectly is my shade garden and mini water feature off the back patio. I have a decent herb garden and a few tomatoes and peppers. I also grow roses and few other other sun loving perennials.

The hostas I currently have are:

Well - it's not like I needed to become interested in another whole different plant area. I am really bad with houseplants in general. I forget to water them then feel bad and flood them

So what possessed me to buy the following?

ORCHID
Den. Burana Green Star '07
4 NOID phals from box stores '08
max. tenuifolia '08
Encyclia Alata
Enc. Fragrans
Enc. Green Hornet
Enc. Pink Zebra
Catt - NOID

And so begins another obsession.....

Oh my gosh! You are so like me! Can we say collector? I've been known to collect as many as I can of a particular genus. After moving several times the only collection that is still complete is the evergreen barberry collection. At last count I had about 25 different ones.

Alexa I'm so glad I stumbled onto and read your page. You are a multi-talented woman with vast interests! :o That is terrific and fascinating. Where do you find the time? I've recently fallen in love with daylilies, they are so beautiful.

PS: Would love to see a pic of your water feature you mentioned. I've always wanted one, but don't have the time to keep it up.

Updated for 2009....

Well the water feature is history! I decided I would rather have more room for plants than my little trickle  Also, I *think* all the plant list are current.... there were a lot of losses last winter - several hostas, a few roses and even a echanacea bit the dust :(

I started reading from the top for fun....so much for the "fairly new to gardening"

It happens. You have some great collections.

Someone once said... more than 3 is a "collection" so here goes with the conifers I bought yesterday at the American Conifer Society Northeast Region Field Day

Sciadopitys verticellata - Umbrella Pine
Pinus Morris Blue
Picea omorika pendula bruns
Picea pungens Walnut Glen
Picea orientalis "Skylands"

They are all sstill in pots and will be there for the immediate future. I have not even started to bed yet!
