Hmmmm , what to tell you about myself that isn’t going to give you a bad case of the yawns? Well, I’m not cool , I am a first born child (and have all the over achieving phobias that go along with that), am kind of a loner, have a tremendous love for God and this country. I have a nine to five job to support my many hobbies. I’m an artist that dabbles in almost every medium. Three years ago I fell in love with pottery. Its like I’ve recaptured my youth, sometimes I feel like a pre-schooler with clay smeared from head to toe. So that’s where the moniker “playinmud” comes from.
Gardening wasn’t always a joy, when I was 9 my mother would have my sister and I weed the vegetable garden, UGH! Well, the task that I despised most has become through the years one of the foremost loves of my life.
Then I discovered hostas . In 2005 the local hosta society had a hosta show. I know many of you find the leaf exhibit dull and boring, but I found it fascinating! I had no idea there were so many different varieties. I did have undulata (we called it funkia), but decided I needed a lot more of these lovely plants. By the end of 2005 I had added 121 hostas to my yard, by the end of 2006 I had added 135 more. I think 2007 is going to be a challenge as I try and find spots for the new ones I have on order. I don’t have much space left, but there’s always room for one more. Once I get a chance I’ll pull my list together and post it here as well.
Thanks for stopping by! I look forward to chatting with everyone in this forum, it’s a great place! Thanks Hallson Gardens!
