After two years working with a sunny perennial garden, I was daunted by how much shade I had at my new house. 'Krossa Regal' convinced me that all would be well.

It wasn't long before 'Twilight' captured my heart and found a spot in my garden.

'Pineapple Upside Down Cake' looked delicious, so I gave it a nice spot next to a little twig chair at the front of the garden bed.

Although the weeds are threatening to steal the show, 'Golden Tiara' outshines them, and the garden has grown just a bit more lush.

New hosta bed appeared out of nowhere (*cough*) when my husband's back was turned.

Here it is shortly after planting and mulching...

Here's 'Regal Splendor' with its dragon guardian.

Image

'Roy Klehm,' just planted. Just one eye, but already some great color. I'm looking forward to seeing this one grow.

Image

'Lakeside Baby Face,' a charming mini I got at last year's Dave's Garden roundup.

Image

'June' on planting day!

Image

'Orange Marmalade,' also on planting day.

'Krossa Regal' is doing its thing in mid-May.

Image

'Frances Williams' stays nice and colorful in deep shade.

Image

H. ventricosa 'Aureomarginata,' I presume. Came with the house. I'm not complaining.

'Golden Tiara' making a spring appearance.

Won at the 2010 Wisconsin Hosta Society Sale & Auction, this 'Sagae' makes for instant impact...and necessitates the need for a new bed addition.

:D Thanks for sharing - your pics are good :D

Your list is not as big as someones , but still I had to look up h. Sno Cone.

A small warning. In the pic with montana Aureomaginata you have a very lovely scented perenial around it. Sorry can't remember either the latin, English or Danish name just now  but it can slowly kill a hosta, I will recomend you dig up some of the closest to the hosta and plant it some where else.

Hey, the Danish name is lilje/ (Lillie)conval.. latin end on convalus.. rest... will come one day

Hi Pia--thanks for commenting!

I bet you're referring to the lily of the valley (convallaria) around ventricosa 'Aureomarginata.' I didn't plant either the lily of the valley or the hosta, but it seems to be holding its own where it is regardless. It's likely been there for many years. (The real gardeners at this place lived here in the late 80s to mid-90s when they sold the house to the person who let the yard slowly go to hell.) I'm just going to leave the hosta where it is. It stays small, but it still looks nice every year. :)
