Angel3K: Ottawa City, ON, Canada

Post by Angel3K »

Name: Angelina ...Angie, Angel or Gelle, Ashy (36 years old)

I was born in Badian, Cebu Philippines in 1975, a small farming and fishing community. I finished high school at 15, then left the province to study university in Cebu City.

I joined work/study program at University of San Jose Recoletos, graduated with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science in 1996.
June 1996- immediately after graduation, I got hired by Philippine Banking Corporation and worked for the company for 5 years. I had held positions such as accounting clerk, control assistant (audit), teller, technical support engineer, and administrative staff. Philippine Banking corporation underwent M & A's: was acquired by Tokai Bank of Japan in 2000 and become Global Bank, the also acquired by Metrobank and become part of its savings bank - the PS bank. It has become part of the Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company, or short Metrobank.

In 2001, I migrated to Canada and work under the Live-in Caregiver Program. I work as caregiver for 3 kids while settling into Canadian society from 2001-2004.

I started studying at Carleton University in the fall of 2004, Bachelor of Engineering: Aerospace Engineering. A struggling single mom did not make it far, finances, scheduling conflict, childcare.
In 2006, I switched to a less demanding program in Sciences: Integrated Science Forensic Studies with Minor in Technology, Society and Environment.
I studied part time and work part time.
Got married in 2009, maternity leave come along & then another baby in 2010.
So there is Kenneth, 7 years old, Karlina 2 years old, and Kieren 1 year old.

Maternity leave expired officially in June 2011 as baby turns 1, so now I am officially un-employed. I took seasonal jobs as gardener every other weekend; when my husband is off from work.

So far, I enjoyed gardening and enjoy helping Ottawa residents maintain their lovely gardens.

Hosta Pioneers Project coming up! A collection of older hostas. I plan to set it up on the L shape corner garden, just beside my daylily (Orange Daylily-also a very old daylily).
