Do you have a picture of a Sum & Substance with HVX? Share it here so that people know what to watch for.

Here is a picture of the plants from 2004 purchased from Simple Pleasures (Van Bourgendien). Note the hint of green color along the veins. This is a very, very early infection, probably was infected in the previous year either at or just around the time it was harvested.

When you see pale colors between the darker veins, can't it be a nutrional factor also?

Yes, lighter colors between the veins is most likely a nutrient problem. On a gold hosta it is the darker than normal color that bleeds along the veins that is the problem sign. Later in this hostas life, if it had been allowed to live, the problem would have become much more pronounced.
