Breeding ???
Does anyone know if HVX can be passed on to seedlings? Is it present in pollen?? or in the eggs/seeds for that matter.

Here's the answer I got from Dr. Lockhart..
Reply:
I have never tested pollen or seeds of infected hostas for presence
of HVX, and do not of anyone who has done so. Such tests need to be
interpreted with caution, since the presence of virus in or on pollen or
seed does not necessarily mean that it will be transmitted to the female
parent or seedling.
Viruses in the genus to which HVX belongs (Potexvirus) are not known to be
seed-transmitted, and I am not aware of any reports of pollen transmission.
This is a question that can only be properly addressed by experimentation.
