Replanting in the hole of a hosta with HVX

What is the recommended length of time to wait until you can safely plant a new hosta in the hole that you have dug up a diseased one?

Dr. Lockhart says a few weeks.

If you had the plant there for several years I would wait a couple months to be sure that all of the old roots have died. But if you got all or most of the roots out when you dug the hosta you could plant sooner than this.

Hope that helps.
