My mother have two hostas who are suspect to my eyes!!! Can someone tell me if this is HVX? By the way, when I speak of the virus here in Quebec, no one know about it... It's scaring

Hi Nathalie,

Yes, that is virus. The first one might be a different virus from HVX but the second one has classic symptoms of hosta virus X.

Both plants should be removed and thrown away as soon as possible. Although HVX only spreads by contact with damaged/cut leaves or roots that first picture might be a different virus that could spread differently.

Good luck with them,

Chris

Its difficult to see for sure, but the first pic could be impatiens necrotic spot virus. I don't know much about that virus, but it has a wide host range (not just hostas). Like Chris said, I would get both of them out of there ASAP.
