Is this the virus?

Post by mtngal »

I don't know if this is the virus or not. This is the only discoloration and it is not bumpy. I thought at first it was either frost damage or sun scald though it is in a lot of shade.

Hi mtngal,

This could be either old frost damage just starting to become clearer or sun damage. This is surface damage, not virus, and nothing to worry about. :)

Thank you, Chris

Thank you. I ordered August Moon and Wide Brim before I knew about this virus. They both look healthy but I isolated them just in case. All my other hosta I've had for 8 or 9 years so I should be pretty safe.

I have several with those kinds of markings and figured it was due to frost damage earlier in the spring.

Yep, me too! We had those several days where the sun was shining bright while we had rain at the same time!

ONLY in Michigan!
