Hail damage AND HVX?

Post by bookleaves »

We suffered a lot of hail damage recently. All my hosta have holes, tears or what looks like white worm trails on their leaves. Assessing the damage (which is tremendous), came across these leaves. So, in addition to hail damage, do I have HVX? Thanks in advance. Ellen

Hi Ellen,

No, that isn't HVX, that's streaking. Looks like this hosta is a bit confused as to what it wants to be when it grows up ;)

Take care,

Chris

Thanks soooo much, Chris! I really like this "whatever," which is a seedling (I call it Little B*stard) from some of my other hostas that managed to "get together" in the front. Thought it was pretty, and was watching it carefully to see what it would do. The hail damage is so severe, I cry whenever I walk my garden; sure didn't need HVX. Ellen
