Patriot with strange leaf.

This is a picture of a patriot leaf. I was at a friends house checking her hostas to see what was wrong with them.. Do you think that HVx would cause the leaf to grow like this?

the leaf edge grew half there and wrinkled. Some of the plant had holes on the leaf, but it was hard to determine if sticks had fallen and broke through.
