I had to look that one up, peonies can indeed get tomato virus-- surprising, since I thought that was limited to others in the Solanacae.

Cannot help with the hvx question, but will be watching for an answer.

Hi Pia,

Yes, hostas can get tomato ringspot virus. If someone said to wait 2 to 3 years that is because this virus can spread by root feeding nematodes in the soil. It seems like a long time to me, but if the peony was there for a while you would really need to make sure those roots are out and then let them die before planting anything else, and peony roots last a really long time.

To me it definitely sounds like a spot for a pot or garden ornament ;)

Thanks Chris

The treepeony was 3 or 4 years old, but didn't have a bit roots ball. And last year was the first it bloomed

One good thing, it was a double and I didn't like it that much, the flowers were way to big and heavy for the little "tree" , but they had a wonderful dark red color.

I could for a minimum crame in 3 or 4 hostas  but may have to do with the idea of a bigger one in a pot
