Virus on midnight sun?

Virus on midnight sun?

This midnight sun isn't leaf burned from the sun nor is has it been subject to freezing. Is this HVX

Hi,

No, it isn't virus. This is called spring desiccation burn, and is common on yellow sieboldiana type plants. This is believe to occur with a combination of colder temps and wet soil. It doesn't have to frost for this to happen, just get down around 40 while it is wet out.

Thanks Chris for replying so quickly,
Who would have thought 40 degrees and a little wet would do? It's sure not attractive but I'm very glad that it's not the virus. I do buy from reputable hosta dealers although I know that's not an absolute guarantee.
