New to Hosta. Need Help. Is this Virus X?

Post by SpringGreen »

Hello,

I posted a picture of 'Great Expectations'. I'm new to Hosta. I was referred to this site
because I need a worthy recommendation. The veins on GE are looking darker. The entire leaf is lighter than what the emerging leaves were. I pulled the Hosta of the ground, dug up the soil, and put it in a pot indoors. Is this a Hosta Virus x or is it iron deficiency??

That isn't something to be worried about. It isn't that the veins are darker, they are actually normal colored, it is the leaves that are lighter between the veins. They probably aren't getting enough nutrients and aren't greening up the way they should. If you aren't already, start giving it a low dosage water soluble fertilizer with micronutrients. Use it at a rate of about 1/2 teaspoon to a gallon of water, each time you water. This will help it green up better. Otherwise it looks very nice!
