Buds!

Post by caliloo »

I was amazed that despite the very cold early part of this winter and the brief warm up this week, there are buds all over my hellebores! Normally I dont see buds until Feb... but I guess it is going to bea little early this year.

Yes, it doesn't take much of a warm up to start seeing buds on them. Often I see the buds already starting to develop in the fall, heck I even had a couple that were flowering last fall, and then it gets above freezing for just a short period of time and they show right away.

Hopefully they won't open too much. I hate it when the buds swell just a little too much and then the flowers are destroyed by another cold spell :(

Well - I guess we'll see what happens. They are predicting another monster snow storm for this weekend, but I guess a lot of snow would actually be better than the bitter cold with no snow cover that we usually get.

Finger crossed and thanks for the info!
