I was amazed that despite the very cold early part of this winter and the brief warm up this week, there are buds all over my hellebores! Normally I dont see buds until Feb... but I guess it is going to bea little early this year.

Yes, it doesn't take much of a warm up to start seeing buds on them. Often I see the buds already starting to develop in the fall, heck I even had a couple that were flowering last fall, and then it gets above freezing for just a short period of time and they show right away.
Hopefully they won't open too much. I hate it when the buds swell just a little too much and then the flowers are destroyed by another cold spell

caliloo, we had one last year that bloomed all season! We currently are seeing buds and some of the spring bulbs coming up!

Well - I guess we'll see what happens. They are predicting another monster snow storm for this weekend, but I guess a lot of snow would actually be better than the bitter cold with no snow cover that we usually get.
