H. villosa hybrids and cultivars

Post by insam »

Does anyone have experience with whether some of these are really stronger growers for the Eastern US, where hot and dry conditions are sometimes inevitable? Plants like 'Caramel' and 'Brownies' etc are sold as tougher, and in theory it makes sense. What do you think? My species plants of local provenance are the only ones that get better every year. Most others get large after a couple of years and then later merely survive if neglected.

I am in the central south in OK. I just planted Carmel this year. So far it is not doing anything spectacular, but it is young. I will try to let you know how it does at the end of the hot dry summer we will have :D
