Has message in outbox been sent?

I thought I sent a pm last evening but it is in my outbox & not the sent folder. Does this mean it didn't go out ?

Hi,

This means it hasn't been read yet. It remains in your outbox until the recipient reads it, giving you the chance to edit or delete it up until it is read.

After the person reads it it will be flagged as Sent.
