Midwest full sun is just plain, friggin hot!
I was in the service at Ft. Lewis Wash (1967). I don't recall seeing the sun from April till about the middle of June. I was in about my 6th week of bootcamp and woke up one morning with a dern mountain starring at me. It sure hadn't been there the previous month and a half.

Yip ... full sun in Ireland is similar to full sun in PNW
