I've been trying to locate the botanical name for my "Golden Temple Bamboo". I'm sure i've written it down somewhere but can't locate it.
Golden bamboo is - phyllostachys aurea.
But the temple bamboos are "generally" in the semiarundinaria group.
Anybody have a clue ?

Hi Mike,
Does the "golden" part of the name refer to the leaves, rather than the culms?
I found only one google reference to the phrase "Golden Temple Bamboo", and that was to P. aurea.
"This bamboo cannot be mistaken thanks to the compacted nodes at the base of some of the culms."
Here is a link to a photo found elsewhere, showing this unique effect; does this resemble your plant?

A google search for "Golden Temple Bamboo" will yield several inadvertant hits, plus one from Hallson's, and one 'legitimate' one:

This is where the synonym P. aurea was seen...

Sam, i'm not clever enough to make it up.
However, it appears that I just might be gullable !
P. Aurea is what I believe it to be.

Mike ... I have noticed that Nigra is often described as 'often found in Temple Gardens'
Maybe Aurea has somewhere been similarly described and you have put two and two together?
No way would I ever concede that you would be gullible
