Eastern Bluebirds!

Post by nanny_56 »

I was walking my half mile loop today in search of bluebirds...and was lucky enough to find some! We have a rather large population here during the summer and a few winter here or not very far away.

I was able to get a few decent photos too, so that was real bonus for me. I was also tracking a hawk all day but didn't fair as well with it.

Awww, how sweet! :P I so envy you the opportunity to see them... I've never seen one in real life.

Peg, I had never seen one either until we moved out here. They are all over, and it is so amazing!

Peggy, we never had either till several years ago when we built some Peterson Bluebird houses one winter. We put them in late march and within 2 days, they were moving in! We didn't even know they were around here, but were hoping! The thing hadn't really had time to cure as they say! Every year now, we have a pair return to that one house. The others were taken over by other small birds, which we knew might happen, but it keep them out of the bluebird one. It faces east and a 100 foot tree about 70 feet from it. Good location for it and works great!
