Hmm, I had no idea that Designer Genes comes up bright yellow. I can't wait to see how mine did over the winter. Love those bright spring yellows :D

Fantastic looking hostas, Dave! Yours seem to be a tad farther along than mine. I just had to check and see where I planted Designer Genes and then went out and looked for it. Mine is very small and just coming up, but it does seem to have those bright yellow leaves. :D

Designer Genes has turned into a fantastic hosta for us. Stays pretty bright all year. Ours has a nice bit of texture to it as well.

I need to haul out the map for last year's purchases. I may have gotten Designer Genes at one of the conventions. I sure hope I did after seeing that pic!! 8-) They look great, Dave!!

I must admit to having developed a bit of a fetish over bright gold leaved Hosta cultivars, MAN do they look great this time of year! My golden collection is still in its infancy, but it's a start....

Here we have a 'Fire Island' with 2 shoots, a single 'Dawn's Early Light' and 3 shoots of 'Cheatin Heart'. Yes, I know they're all viridescent, but I'll enjoy them while I can!

And - Dr. Dave; Where is that beautiful yellow sdlg of yours with the bright red legs?

Reldon - I bought a single eye 'Designer Genes' @ a convention last year. Just couldn't resist any longer.

Pieter - Your yellows are wonderful. I saw Dawn's Early Light in a tour garden. It was a beacon of bright light / very yellow. And Fire Island stays yellow for me as it lives in allot of sunshine. Don't you love the name 'Cheatin' Heart'. It's so Hank Williams Sr / Patsy Cline. Oh, that's really showing my age.

Other wonderful yellows in my garden; Jimmy Cracked Corn, Fort Knox, May, English Sunrise (possibly the same plant as May), August Moon, Golden Sunburst, Grand Canyon, Yellow Boa, just to name a few.

Marlys, the plant you are talking about gets yellow later. It is up, but no leaves have unfurled, and the color will be light green for a few weeks I think.
Pee Dee Gold Flash is very bright right now. Shiny Penny is bright yellow; Sea Fire is almost there, which is the parent of Dawn's Early light. St Elmo's Fire and Eye Declare should be showing soon.

 Love those springtime yellows! I have a lot of them. Some of mine are beginning to unfurl, and some are just through the ground.
Interestingly enough, I have a lot of volunteer seedlings with that bright spring yellow. I save all of them. Then, at the other end of the
season, there are the lutescent ones....like that red-legged seedling of yours, Dave. I love them too!
I know I got Designer Genes last year, it's up already and looking good. Also love that whole Cheatin' Heart group. I have Faithful Heart
and Stolen Kiss planted in a group with Cheatin' Heart. It's really a bright spot in the mini bed right now.

Stunning! I just love the bright colors. I got Montana Aureomarginata last spring, and I can't wait for it to unfurl now!

I just added Designer Genes to my must have list, I sure hope Chris has a few ready when I go for Mothers Day!

I told myself that I was going to concentrate on adding more blues this year! Who was I kidding?

Wonderful plants and great pictures! Keep them coming.

Here's Designer Genes yesterday. It was the convention plant at Philadelphia in 2006. Art Wrede, the hybridizer, is the father of Eva Jones, who was our society president at the time.

Looks like I found the place to show off some yellows...

Dave - nice looking plants, things are coming along up there. I heard the weekend had lots of them jumping up in your neck of the woods.

Here's a couple that caught my eye coming up.....

Fire Island taken a couple days ago and May taken a couple minutes ago.
