Daily Hosta #1 - 'Blue Ice' - Add your pics

The first hosta for Sunday, Nov. 13. The handbell choir I direct plays tomorrow with an 8:30 am call. I'm not likely to get to a computer until afternoon.

Name:H. 'Blue Ice'

Description: Very small with intensely blue leaves.
Size: Tiny (8"w x 3"h)
Origin: seedling of H. 'Dorset Blue' and H. 'Blue Moon'
Flowers: Pale Lavender in mid-summer
Added to garden: August 2006

Was divided once two years ago. It's not growing fast but has regained all that was divided from it.

I once had a most beautiful Blue Ice that was the envy of all on this forum. But alas...I repotted it and it died.

Oh, Kas! I had a nice one, too, and moved it. Same fate. I have given up trying to grow it.
Three times is my limit...and I lost 3. One that was doing quite well in my growing area simply
did not come back several years ago. No sign that it was unhappy, it just quietly disappeared.
Ann, yours looks good! I hope it continues to do well for you.

'Blue Ice' taken June 13, 2012. No appreciable growth. With our very early spring and very hot, dry summer, the blue melted off quite early and it became an ordinary small green hosta this year.

Mine got lost in the move, but it was lovely in the garden.

may have a new one and plant it where it have to stay... seems like it is not up for relocation

It WAS beautiful until it turned green. Here's a photo taken Aug. 12, the last time I took pics in the garden. Guess I need to take one more round of them.
