The Final Chemo Update
Hi everyone --The scans show that the cancer is again in remission. I saw the oncologist today, and he has taken me off the "baddie" chemicals that were giving me such awful side effects! From now on I will be on a maintenance program of having every three weeks the one infusion that does NOT give me fits, plus a daily pill that I'd been on for the two years before the cancer came back. The infusion is of Herceptin, the drug that fends off the HER2 protein, and the pill is anti-estrogen. Those are the two things (that protein and the estrogen) that my type of cancer feeds on, so with this regimen we will hope to hold it at bay for a good long time. Thanks for riding this roller-coaster with me for all these years. I am feeling good, and ready to tackle the garden, should the snow ever, ever melt! Love to you all, Phyllis

Wonderful news, Phyllis! I'm so glad that you're feeling good and looking forward to getting in the garden. The snow here finally melted last week, and I've been able to start a little spring cleanup.

Thanks, friends! Hate to tell you, but it is snowing again here in marvelous Minnesota. It's supposed to turn into rain tomorrow, but right now it looks like November. ICK! Phyllis

More snow -- and some "snow thunder" -- honestly, that's what they were calling it on the radio's weather report-- this morning. Everything is white, white, white again, and I hate, hate, hate it! Disgustedly, Phyllis

Re: The Final Chemo Update
Just a note -- the "tumor marker" in the lab work, which shows that there is or is not cancer developing, continues to go down and down and down! This is good news, since the lower it is, the better. Just wanted you to know -- Phyllis

Hi, Phyllis!
I'm not around here much... but I do have to check in on you now and then. So this is a case where lower marks are a good thing - and you keep earning lower and lower marks... great!
