Formal or informal gardens

No, and my superman isn't into weeding either! Even if I was down, they weeds would be up that much further. He does help with hauling the bags and pavers IF he's around on occasion, but he knows I'll get to it eventually.

My very first garden was planned. It looked great the first year. Then I started getting more plants than I had room for, then it became informal.

This year I redug that bed and tried to make it a formal garden again. Already I have stuck random extra plants in those open spaces. God did it look great for about 2 weeks though!

I guess I'll just have to stick with the informal cottage look. DH likes that look too (thank God!).

I'm with you guys, I try to keep the weeds shorter than the plants.

There is nothing remotely formal about my garden... heck, half the time I don't even get the veggie garden planted in rows, just shove things in wherever they fit and call it good!

As anyone who has been to my place knows, I plant by the "Oh, look, there's 2 square inches of bare soil! Quick! Shove a plant in!" method. I think it's all so random that it all ends up coming together in the end.
