I LOVE this daylily - INCA APOTHECARY - Hanson. This bloom has about 6 different, very distinct colors running through it.

This is one of my all time favorites - LEXINGTON AVENUE - Munson. I love this color and the contrast with the watermark. No fancy gobby gold edges, just pure color that you could eat with a spoon.

Last one for the day - ARTIST'S EDGE - Mercer. I have very few diploids in my garden but this is a favorite.

gramush - I love the bluish eye color on your COURT MAGICIAN seedling. Have you crossed this with anything to further that trait?

Hi Jay Dee

I have used this seedling both as a pollen & pod parent, I may get to see some results this year for third year seedlings.
I was looking at my notes on this one, the bloom last year was much nicer than first year bloom.
So the evaluation process has just started, wish me luck.

There is usually improvement on seedlings as they get older but sometimes, I look at a second year seedling and wonder why I kept it. Sometimes they put all their energy into being beautiful the first year and then get hit by the uglies!

I can really see the Rehkamp (sp?) on your second seedling picture. How big is it? I would be very tempted to breed that into spiders.

Brother Charles Reckamp

Jay Dee I had to edit the post, I assumed that the pod parent was Techny Peace, " the color" but then I saw that it was from a Country Melody pod. I have used Country Melody a lot because I love it. I know for a fact that the UF form in that seedling was to this point, a one time event, and do not have a clue why.

"original message"
It was out of Country Melody, Klehm large flower about 28 inches tall.
I know that Brother Charles was doing his hybridizing at Klehm's so his breeding line is in the seedling & Techny Peace/Country Melody. That was the only "out of many" seedlings that showed the UF form
I have crossed it with some UF's I have, " not many "
and Sears Tower to see what happens.
I am more into the round edged than spiders, but a new one from last year named Rob Cobb a UF, sure turned my head. In fact I have ordered some large spiders & UF's this year, I plan to try breeding them on a small scale to see what happens.

WARNING TO GRAMUSH - spiders can be addictive - 40% of the seeds planted this year were from the spuf side of the garden! I also attribute it to the fact that the spiders tend to bloom on the EE side and by the time the bagels kicked in, temps were in the 90"s and the drought had set in. But since I like you, I thought it only fair to warn you about a possible addiction to the bizarre.

I've been strolling through these daylilies and have
several
things to say. :)

I don't know if you all remember me ... I went somewhere else for a while, but they didn't talk enough about daylilies for me.

gramush1, I too like your Court Magician pd x Janie Wilson. I'm not into blues a super lot, but I do like this one.

What do you think Jaydee, should gramush and I trade pollen for our seedlings? (remember my other post about the one my husband likes?)

Jaydee, I love Lex. Ave also! I just made a list of some DL's that have to go to make room for my new ones and Lex. Ave is old enough to be on that 'out of here' list. But I just can't do it! It is just too cool  .
I'll have to look into that INCA APOTHECARY. Would you call that a polychrome on steroids? :D
And is All American Tiger really that pretty? Most of the pics I've seen of it look a lot like yours.

Lucygoose, stunning picture of Barbara Mitchell! YOur Art Gallery Quilling is great also. Mine doesn't quill as nice as yours. At least not yet.

Wildflower4, I like Emperor Butterfly. Looks a lot like Lex. Ave.

Now after all that talk I will post one pic. I'm so sad, she didn't bloom this year. :(

Once Upon a Star.

Where did you go toomany and glad to have you back!

Yes, ALL AMERICAN TIGER is that pretty and I agree about LEXINGTON AVE. I don't care how many of the newest and greaest are brought in here, it will always live here.

I am fascinated by INCA APOTHECARY - to me, and I could be wrong, I don't think this is a polychrome. The colors on this are distinct colors and not colors that blend together. When you look at the bloom the colors are distinct - gosh, I can't explain it. I will have seedlings bloom from this one this summer and can't wait. I have used it heavily the last two years and probably will again.

I definitely think you and Gramush should trade pollen - who has to walk across the lake?

Addicted, way to late for that!!

Another daylily nut, hell, we here are all daylily nuts! life is good.
If I become addicted to Spiders, UF's, as much as the Bagels, Edged, Ruffled, Oh well I be a happy addict.
The only thing I settled on for sure was tets, yup got to be tets.
Swapping pollen? now can I tell my wife about this? She doesn't quite understand the daylily thing yet, but she tells me that the seed starting, tagging, mini greenhouse have become a ritual right or harbinger to spring, that and the fact I grow heirloom tomatoes, one of her favorite things on earth. heh heh. Always a method to any means.

I have another picture of a different pod/plant from of the same cross. It only went poly twice in 3 years.
