Finally mailed mine.

Gosh, I didn’t mean to get everyone all atwitter (ok, maybe just a few of you). Got my traders name and went into panic mode...thought with over 250 varieties those days were past...but no!!! But I got lucky and found one fairly decent hosta this person doesn’t have (pretty difficult!) that I was planning on splitting anyways so I can have a spare. I am a nervous wreck when I don’t have a spare or two of each hosta.
I am just hoping my traders list was up-to-date...would hate to whack this one then get a “ho-hum...got that one already”! So everyone rush off and update your lists so I know if I have to go to “Plan B” (hehe). You have until this weekend...

How far in advance of shipping do you pack them in their box? This is the first time I am sending out hostas. I know how to clean them and pack them but not the timing.
I want to send mine out tomorrow morning.

MollyD: I usually dig late in the afternoon, let the roots (not the crown) soak in water overnight then pack them up the next morn just before taking them to the post office. Like to make sure they are well hydrated before mailing them off...just in case the post office is slow in getting them to their new home.

Thanks Wanda. Guess I'd better go dig them up right now then!

Mine just went south this morning. Good traveling weather too since it's gotten cooler than it was all last week.
