I'm about 4 hours away so could drive up in the morning and home in the evening, maybe car pool? I'm not available on the 11th.

The 28th sounds good to me! Or whenever is best for everyone else...had to cancel making the wedding cakes for the 11th due to MIL, so will be there whenever it is. I really need a day out!

So, have we decided what the date will be? We can make it the 28th, or the 11th...... :P

Chris, you KNOW how bad I want to come

But this trip to Texas proved one thing to that Old COot named John, he won't be going ANYWHERE, any time soon. I did well physically and mentally, but am totally exhausted, so you guys just have a blast and have one or two for OC and Joy....OC wishing he COULD go, but knowing he can't.......

It looks like the best weekend for motels is July 28th. I know this is a little earlier than usual, but hopefully that will work out for those of you wanting to come.

By the way, this is a forum event, not just a hosta event. Everyone is welcome ;)

Let me know if the 28th works out and if so I will make that the new official date

The 28th is great with us. We were kind of sad cause we couldn't make it in August. If it's on the 28th, then we can come too. :bd: :bd: :bd:

July 28th is probably good for me, but Aug 11th is a definite no-go.

By the way, this is a forum event, not just a hosta event. Everyone is welcome

does this mean that the other forums have been invited? i think alot of us have daylilies too, so that would be a kick to have a daylily exchange etc. i'm not too sure about an exchange with the 'digging in the dirt' group.

if the invite is posted on the other forums, we should probably do some, if minor, coordination of food stuffs.

Mary: I don’t know, but maybe Chris & Brian aren’t prepared for a huge crowd and might not want to overly publicize the event...especially at this late date?

And on the food coordination...I will bring some sort of chocolate dessert - probably cupcakes or brownies.

Let's set the date at July 28th. I'm sorry that a few won't be able to make it. I think this will be the best time for motels since any other times will be either during, before, or just after a race weekend. August gets to be crazy in this area.

So let's keep planning, but change it to July 28th.

And what I mean with me invitation is that anyone on the forum is welcome to visit. We will still do the hosta trade and auction, plus will do a "trinket" raffle if people want to bring some small gift type gardening items.

See you in a month :D

Okie dokie then! That date works for me, so I've called and booked my room. I did ask them if they had other rooms available and the owner said they do at this time. She also said there is a triathalon scheduled at the end of July so they might fill up in the next couple weeks, so call them soon if you're interested in staying there. Here's the website link:

http://www.claddaghbedandbreakfast.com/

They do have a new innkeeper this year, but I will say that last year my DD and I enjoyed staying there. Like Chris mentioned in an earlier post, it's about 5 miles north of Hallson's and sits back a bit from the road, so it's quite peaceful. The rooms are all different and quite lovely and on the weekends they did a full breakfast, which was to die for! I don't think I could eat the rest of the day because I was so full!
I'll do the same thing that I did last year. Come to Hallson's first (usually arriving about noonish) and then about 3PM I run up to the B&B and get myself checked in and the return to Hallson's for the evening. If you come back late (like my DD and I did last year) you just use your key to get in the front door and make sure to lock up behind yourself.
So if anyone is interested in a room for a night or two, I can recommend this place.
