Midwest gathering, scattering
Yup....200 of us gathered and now we're heading for home. First we gotta pack the SUV. THEN we're going to Roxanne Meyers garden an hour from Davenport. We're got blackmail shots of our Nederland friend in a RED hat and more. I'm taken home treasures of "angels", garden sign, hostas and rocks. Andy's calling me "Lucy" and insists I have "sum espaining to dew". Memo to self. WHEN Kim Larsen rides with us, pull a trailor. I sat with the Iowa crew for the auction. What a hoot. The drinking team was in rare form. I wish you all could have been there. Maybe next year in Chi town. Do save your baby sitting money and plan to attend next year. The gardens look NATIONAL worthy according to the power point we saw last night. Ooops. Continental breakfast is ready. I'll post photos soon if I can figure out how to size'm with my new PC software. Later, Love, Lisa

Hope everyone has a safe trip home. I made it home in the weeee hours of the morning, and now I'm off to Roxanne's.
Can't wait to see the pics. I didn't take any. I was too busy enjoying the experience.

It was also great to finally meet most of the Nursery Owners I buy from..
Bob and Nancy Solberg "Green Hill Hostas"
Jim and Karen Swartz "Jims Hosta"
Rob Mortko "Made In The Shade
Bill Ebert "Silvers and Elbert
Oscar Cross "Hilltop Farms"
Josh Spece and family "In The Country Garden and Gifts"
Gary "Naylor Creek"
The gardens were great I thought but I must admit I was impressed with Chubs the most.. Never seen so many mature plants in my life.. I'm not much into conifers but I did see a few nice ones in a couple gardens also.. Thanks everyone and hope I get the chance to have a experience like this again

We are so proud. David won a tie for best seedling with Nancy Solberg. Roxanne took best sport in the MIDWEST preview. Congrats! When they were talking about how much they (Judges Kim Larsen, Bob Olson and Don Dean) LOVED David's seedling, I shot him behind Jan Lee with a happy smirk. Congrats. We crossed paths with the Solbergs in Roxanne's garden this am. Photo's on different camera coming soon. Connie was cut out of this photo with a close up of Trudy. We were at the bar called "Boozies" and they didn't even make Mojito's. Oh well, Eric of Starks garden fame ordered us up a round of Misc booze for the drinking team. Later, Love, Lisa

hostas & more
Hostas were looking great! I talked to the Birthday boy himself. (Chub). His plant was originally named H. Krossa Regal Blush or was is splash?. Shoot. You'd think I was drinking at noon. Folks said that Soules used to have it and the name was changed to Trail of tears. It probably got its name cuz the rest of us who lust for a division will be crying cuz we can't get our hot little hands on it. Later, Love, Lisa

Midwest
Hey all - it was truly great to see everyone! Makes me hate to go back to the day job!!!
Next time - mint leaves, rum, 7-up/soda, and ice is on me (in the glass . . .). Mint mojitos for everyone at the Winter Scientific!
I loved the gardens, the vending, the auction, and the leaf show. Of course, the best part is always the Hosta-tality room - the PBR, and crazy guys in orange hats (damn terrorists!) and everyone in between.

Ok Ma...now the blackmail slideshows. I'm kidd'n. Nothing too incriminating here. I now wish I woulda redone your hair for the wedding. Forgive me. My only regret is I didn't get a photo of how full our SUV was. Later, Love, Lisa

The Drinking Team in rare form on Thursday night. We hit the bars of Davenport and "Boozies" was the best. The bartender was very accomadating. He even said it was OK to dance on the tables. Here's what we looked like BEFORE we tipped more. Later, Love, Lisa

To fill in the blanks . . . .Lisa re-styled my typical ponytail into a fashionable French Braid for the convention. I looked darned cute that way too.putnamgardens wrote: I now wish I woulda redone your hair for the wedding.

But it would have collapsed anyway during my Friday nite adventure at a BP station near Peoria with my broken down car. Some miracles happened and I made it on time to my grandson's wedding on Saturday in spite of my droopy "do" and no wheels.
