Tri-State Hosta Meeting and Plant Sale

Post by caliloo »

was today.

I had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people AND came home with a few new purchases.

I got:

Baby Blue Eyes
Country Mouse
Ocean Isle - Chris has this one in stock and I was told by several people at the meeting that it is a "must have". Go order one NOW!
Mourning Dove

It was a super experience and I can't wait for the next meeting!

Sounds like fun :D

That's nice to hear about Ocean Isle. The pictures I've seen look great so I'm hoping ours start getting a bit more maturity to them this year and look as nice.

I've had really good luck with Mourning Dove holding its blue color for a long time in the shade, but its reverse, middle variegated partner, Lonesome Dove, has not done well at all. I have then in 2 spots, one group will be 2 years old and the other will be 3 years old and they have barely grown and looked really bad at the end of last summer. I may have to move some of them around to see if it is just soil/moisture/location but in the meantime won't be starting any more...

Enjoy your new babies :)

Hi Alexa!
It was so great to meet you at the meeting yesterday! What fun it is to meet people from the forum and put a face to the name! Hope to see you again, Alexa!

Yes! Go order 'Ocean Isle'! It is a nice sport from 'El Dorado' that was registered by one of the TSHS past presidents, Dave Chopko. I have seen some nice specimens of it and had to get one yesterday too! I also got Sweet Innocence, White Elephant, Coconut Custard, Singin' the Blues and Mourning Dove. I think they will all be nice plants!

Cheers~
