Hi,
I would not hesitate on 'Deep Blue Sea'. The plant holds well. When the wax does ware towards the end of the season it is still really dark. It has a nice form, excellent substance, etc.
Good Luck

My first thought too, mine have just unfurled..everything are late here this year, so it is a bit late, but a lovely hosta with a very special dark and lasting color.. cupped, bumpy..what more to ask for
Think it is the only dark blue one I know, so if dark is the issue..

My first thought when I read the post was also Deep Blue Sea.
It's a very special hosta, with a blue that I don't see in any other one
in my collection right now.

Deep Blue Sea is a superb, large dark blue hosta with big puckers. Another stunning large, dark blue beauty is Blueberry Waffles (http://www.hostalibrary.org/b/blueberrywaffles.html) which is in tc at Q&Z and should be available next summer.

I love my Blue Angel. It is pretty dark blue in the shady area I have it planted. It is over 5 feet across.

Hmm, I thought Deep Blue Sea was supposed to be a medium sized hosta, which is why I bought it. Now I might be in trouble. Mine is in it's third year and has the nice texture, but is still on the small side. Does anyone have a pic of a fairly mature one in their garden?
I have Big Daddy in full shade and it stays dark blue there all season. Does't grow well, but the color is nice.
